Area Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Automobiles, building surfaces and postboxes were defaced, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they reported in a official communication.
Police state they were contacted during the night on Wednesday, when a individual noticed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish substance.
The liquid had been drawn in the shape of a swastika, they stated.
Police then found numerous other smeared vehicles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement state early analysis indicate the liquid was likely human blood.
"Currently there is no indication as to where it came from; officials are not yet informed of any injuries in relation with the incident," they commented.
Local authorities stated they were attempting "to solve the case" and have appealed to the public for information.
An important political figure said the vandalism rendered him without words and required to be solved quickly.
"This act affects the very heart of Hanau and reopens the pain of the far-right violent incident half a decade ago," he wrote on social media, referring to the killing of nine people by a gunman aiming at people of migrant background in February 2020.
