I will overwhelm 'serious fighter' Paul - Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

Anthony Joshua is set to fight Jake Paul in an eight round contest which will be broadcast live on Netflix.

British boxer Anthony Joshua said he will "stamp all over" Jake Paul and "defeat" his opponent as the combatants came face-to-face to promote the upcoming heavyweight fight.

Former twice world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua meets social media star turned fighter Paul - in what is, by the numbers, a mammoth uneven pairing - at Miami venue on 19 December.

Boxer's Mentality

"I plan to damage his features and break his body up. I aim to demonstrate I'm superior," Joshua, 35, declared.

"I'll stamp all over him. That's the boxer's mindset.

"I will seriously aim to hurt him. That's what I want to do."

Respectful Exchange

In spite of those words, a calm Joshua and internet personality Jake Paul - usually recognized for his theatrics - exchanged pleasantries and maintained decorum with each other.

Paul rather targeted ex Joshua's rival the Cameroonian fighter and described him as "a joke" after the Cameroonian turned down a fight offer.

Targeting Fury

Joshua, meanwhile, criticized British rival Tyson Fury - and refused a £1m bet 'The Gypsy King' says he will place on a victory for Paul.

"Jake Paul outshines Tyson Fury - he showed up," Joshua commented.

"I respect him for that."

Legitimate Opponent

Despite stating he plans to hurt Jake Paul, Anthony Joshua refused to speak negatively about his rival's fighting skills.

"Jake is a legitimate boxer," he said.

Paul's Background

Jake Paul - who first rose to fame on the Disney Channel - has mainly boxed mixed martial artists or declining opponents since turning professional.

He lost to Briton Tommy Fury in 2023.

Commercial Success

However, the inexperienced fighter continues to be one of the sport's largest money-making draws, frequently receiving substantial paydays.

Forecast and Confidence

The 28 year old forecast a KO victory in rounds four or five and claimed he would prevent the highly-expected Fury-Joshua bout, which is allegedly being planned for two years from now.

"It will be myself against Tyson Fury next year," Jake Paul stated.

Physical Difference

As Joshua and Paul participated in the customary stare-down, with their height and weight contrast on show, it highlighted just how improbable this entire matchup is - and how astonishing it is that the bout is truly happening.
