Paris Saint-Germain Defeats Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Claim French Super Cup in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

PSG has now secured the season-opening trophy on 14 separate occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain required a stoppage-time leveler followed by a successful penalty shootout to overcome Marseille in the Gulf and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions victory.

The European champions appeared to be sailing towards a comfortable win in the showdown between the Ligue 1 champions and the Coupe de France winners after the French winger found the net in the opening stages.

Yet, Marseille struck two times late to take a shock lead. Initially, the English forward converted from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho inadvertently directed the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking turn of events, Goncalo Ramos snatched a vital leveler in the dying seconds to force the match into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Chevalier then emerged as the hero, saving crucial attempts from O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Goncalo Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all scored successfully for Paris Saint-Germain to complete a convincing shootout victory.

The record champions PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now lifted this trophy for the twelfth time in the past thirteen seasons.
